Being Democrat Means Never Having to Say You're Sorry

David W. Almasi over at Amy Ridenour's National Center Blog offers further proof that Democrats think they are so right that they never, have, to apologize for anything. It's a short post so I'm going to "excerpt" the whole thing:

ARNCB
How soon people seem to forget. Liberals were apoplectic last February 23 -- exactly three months ago to the day -- when Education Secretary Rod Paige called the National Education Association a "terrorist organization." Democratic National Chairman Terry McAuliffe called it "hate speech" and called on Republicans to "immediately renounce" Paige's comment.

Now Democratic Senator Tim Johnson (SD) compared certain parts of the Republican Party to the Taliban at a campaign rally on May 23.

The only difference between Paige and Johnson thus far is that Paige apologized. Johnson thus far has steadfastly refused to do so.

And none of his colleagues have renounced his comments, including Terry McAuliffe.

David has had some really good posts as he gets into the swing of this blogging thing. Keep an eye on him.

Have you seen Al Gore's speech he delivered on the 26th? He went in full Dean rant mode according to Yahoo news. I like this part:

The president episodically poses as a healer and "uniter". If the president really has any desire to play that role, then I call upon him to condemn Rush Limbaugh - perhaps his strongest political supporter - who said that the torture in Abu Ghraib was a "brilliant maneuver" and that the photos were "good old American pornography," and that the actions portrayed were simply those of "people having a good time and needing to blow off steam."

So he wants the President to condemn Rush, a private citizen, for statements made on a radio show. If Bush had to expend breath condemning every private party for things said he wouldn't have time to sleep, let alone run the country.
And of course he fails to mention that no [Dim]ocrat has ever condemned Kennedy for his rants on the Senate floor. Or for all the other references to Hitler, gulags, and M. Moore, (also a private citizen) for his AWOL crap.

Funny how that works. The full text of Gore's speech is posted at Moveon's web site. Its worth the fisking, but to tell the truth I don't have the energy to even attempt it, there are too many points to slam him on.

Oh.... I forgot to place the correct ending to any post that references Al Gore....

ASSHAT

Thanks for mentioning David Almasi's post, Sean, and in such a complimentary way. It is nice of you.

Senator Johnson finally decided to apologize for this "taliban wing of the Republican party" comment. I'm surprised he didn't do it sooner. One loses nothing by apologizing, and the man doesn't exactly live in a left-wing state.

I can only assume he really did't think the original comment was all that off-base. One gets the impression that quite a few left-of-center people really do believe that conservatives want to set up a theocracy. Still, I would not have expected Tim Johnson to be one of them.
